Amber Alert briefly issued after SUV stolen with child inside

WATCH ABOVE: A young girl was found safe early this morning after the vehicle she was in was stolen.

EDMONTON — An Amber Alert was issued early Monday morning in north Edmonton, after an SUV with a young girl inside it was stolen.

It happened just before 1 a.m at a Petro Canada gas station near 97th Street and 132nd Avenue.

The eight-year-old girl was sleeping in the back seat of the Chevrolet Trailblazer when it was stolen.

An Amber Alert was issued and then cancelled a short while later when the SUV, with the unharmed child inside, was found ditched a short distance away.

Police have not released a suspect description, and officers continue to investigate.
