HotDogz ResQ looks to help sweltering pets

WATCH ABOVE: A group of concerned citizens who call themselves the Hot Dogz  ResQ, has been patrolling Montreal-area parking lots. The group is on the look-out for pets left behind in hot cars as temperatures soar. Billy Shields reports.

LASALLE – After seeing countless examples of dogs left unattended in hot cars, a group organized on Facebook is fighting back.

The group is called Hot Dogz ResQ, and boasts more than 300 members spread in the West Island, southwest Montreal and Laval.

The group gathers in teams, fanning out in parking lots looking for unattended dogs.

Once found, two members stay with the dog, photograph it and the license plate, and post it to Facebook with a time-stamp.

They then page the license number at the store where the car’s parked.

As a last resort, they will call the police.
