Security camera footage acquired by NTV shows the man, in Kumamoto Prefecture, lay face down on the tracks seconds before a train comes roaring into the station and over top of him.

NTV reports that the rails are only five inches high and that the driver did apply the brakes but it was too late to stop the train in time.

Approximately 80 people were on board at the time. No injuries were reported.
