A former RCMP officer convicted of perjury in connection to the death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski is expected to be sentenced today.

In March, former corporal Benjamin (Monty) Robinson was found guilty of lying during his testimony at a public inquiry into the taser death of Dziekanski at YVR in 2007.

The crown is asking for Robinson to be sentenced to up to three years behind bars.

Defence says a conditional sentence is more appropriate.

Robinson was one of four officers involved in the incident at the Vancouver airport.
