Steve Bosse to face Babalu in Montreal in May on Instinct MMA card

MONTREAL – Light-heavyweight Steve (The Boss) Bosse will face former UFC and Strikeforce fighter Renato (Babalu) Sobral in the main event of Instinct 4 in Montreal in May.

Bosse (9-1) knocked out Houston (The Assassin) Alexander, another former UFC vet, last October at Instinct 1. Bosse broke his hand in the fight, delaying his return.

Sobral (36-9) has not fought since being knocked out by Dan Henderson in Strikeforce in December 2010.

Instinct 3 is scheduled for March 31 in Sherbrooke, Que. The exact date of the May show is yet to be set.

Bad Break: Middleweight Sean (The Destroyer) Loeffler’s planned UFC debut Wednesday in Omaha was scratched after a freak injury warming up.

“I was doing ‘tuck jumps’ backstage,” Loeffler said in a release Thursday. “My foot got caught in a crack in the warmup mat, and it rolled over and snapped in half. (Cornermen) Trevor Wittman and Urijah Faber were there … the whole locker-room heard it pop.

“Fortunately, the ankle’s not broken. It’s a third-degree fibula-tibia strain. There’s about a 50-50 chance I’ll have surgery, but we won’t know until after I get an MRI.”

The UFC paid Loefller his basic purse despite the injury. His opponent, Buddy Roberts, reportedly also got his win bonus.
