Amy Schumer pics in ‘GQ’ upset some ‘Star Wars’ fans

Amy Schumer appears on the cover of the August issue of 'GQ.'. Handout

TORONTO — Photos of Amy Schumer dressed as Princess Leia in the August issue of GQ have caused a disturbance in The Force.

On social media, some Star Wars fans are expressing disappointment in the pictures — including a cover shot of Schumer sucking the finger of droid C-3PO.

Inside the magazine and online, the 34-year-old comedian is seen in apparent post-coital bliss with C-3PO and R2-D2.

She is also pictured simulating oral sex using the movie franchise’s iconic light saber.

Another one of Mark Seliger’s photos depicts Schumer doing a Rockettes-style kick line with Stormtroopers.

“Lucasfilm & Disney did not approve, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner,” reads a tweet on the official Star Wars account.

GQ has not commented on its use of the characters.

A rep for the studios behind Star Wars told Variety the photos are protected as parody and said there is no legal action planned.

Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the three original Star Wars movies and the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, tweeted his support for the photos.

While many people on social media saw the humour in the racy photos, some were not impressed. Here’s a sample of reactions from Star Wars fans on social media:
