2 men in hospital after overnight stabbings

WATCH ABOVE: Police are investigating after two unrelated overnight stabbings in Montreal sent two men to hospital.

MONTREAL – Two men are in hospital after two separate and unrelated overnight stabbings in Montreal.

The first incident happened in Saint-Henri.

Police received a 911 call at around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, after a pedestrian saw a man covered in blood at the corner of Walnut Street near Cazelais Street.

The 26-year-old man was transported to hospital with stab wounds to the upper body and is in critical condition.

Police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant confirmed to Global News that the victim is known to police.

Brabant says that no arrests have been made and that there are no suspects.

Police are hoping to speak with the victim as his condition improves.

A perimeter has been set up around the crime scene and the investigation is ongoing.

The second stabbing happened two hours later in downtown Montreal, at the corner of De la Montagne and Ste-Catherine Street.

A conflict between a group of people escalated and one man was injured after he was stabbed with a sharp object.

The 26-year-old victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 24-year old man and 18-year-old woman were arrested on site and are being detained for questioning.
