TORONTO – Environment Canada has issued a heat alert for the GTA and most of southern Ontario.

The agency is warning that temperatures across the region will reach from 30 to 32 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday night will be especially warm, with overnight minimum temperatures in the 20 to 23-degree range.

What will make the weekend especially punishing are humidex values that will peak near 40 degrees on both weekend days.
