Two more men charged in connection with Maqsood Ahmed homicide

WATCH: Police have made two more arrests in the murder of Calgary businessman Maqsood Ahmed. Now investigators say there is just one more suspect on the loose. Global’s Nancy Hixt reports.

CALGARY – Police have laid charges against a total of three men in connection to the murder of Calgary businessman Maqsood Ahmed.

Ahmed was leaving his business with cash and receipts on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 when he was robbed and stabbed to death. 

Last month, police issued a warrant for the arrest of 19-year-old Jean Bertrand Havyarimana in connection to the homicide.

Havyarimana turned himself in to police on Monday, and is now charged with robbery and second-degree murder.

“He was a support role in the robbery and in carrying out the robbery,” said Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm during a Tuesday afternoon press conference. “We never did get any idea of specifically what did occur with the money.”

Police had previously arrested 19-year-old Lloyd Kollie in connection to the death. He is charged with robbery and second-degree murder.

A third man is also facing charges in the incident. On Tuesday, Global News learned Matthew Forest was facing charges related to robbery and accessory after the fact to murder. Forest, 21, was officially charged with robbery, accessory after the fact to robbery, and accessory after the fact to murder on Wednesday night.

Chisholm said the investigation is ongoing, and there’s no indication the case is gang-related.
