Helicopter crashes while fighting wildfires near Slave Lake

EDMONTON — One person was taken to hospital Saturday afternoon after a helicopter crash near Slave Lake.

RCMP say the Bell 412 helicopter was helping battle wildfires when it crashed about 57 kilometres northeast of the town. It happened around 3:10 p.m.

The pilot, and only person in the helicopter, was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Aviation investigators, the Transportation Safety Board and RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
