Statement from Harold Leduc, victim of alleged smear campaign

My privacy was systematically breached for the first three years I was appointed to the Veterans Review and Appeal Board (VRAB). I’ve never stood a chance since.

As a result I’ve immediately started feeling harassed and singled out for granting benefits to disabled Veterans when the law allowed. I rarely work alone but am singled out nonetheless.

I’ve been severely harmed by this adverse behaviour. The Canadian Human Rights Commission found in my favour in July 2010 but the harassment persists, last month was no different. My privacy was breached once again last year. It doesn’t end.

I’m suffering because my privacy was breached, I’m disabled and I’m providing disabled Veterans with fair and reasonable treatment under the generous provisions of the law. It doesn’t make any sense that the abuse should be allowed to continue!

The continued harassment and harm I suffer is ultimately aimed at VRAB’s clients, “Canada’s disabled Veterans” and is reason enough for the judicial review of VRAB I’ve sought since 2009. The law protecting disabled Veteran’s rights isn’t being taken seriously!
