WEST KELOWNA – If you live in West Kelowna consider yourself warned. Your water fees went up July 1st.

The city water, consumption and maintenance fees are going up 15 per cent.

But don’t be surprised if your July bill is also higher than usual. It’s the first utility bill that higher sewer fees are showing up on. Those increases came into effect April 1, 2015. The city sanitary sewer user fees went up 20 per cent while the RDCO sanitary sewer user fees went up five per cent.

The city say the increased fees are “to help address significant cost pressures.”

The municipality estimates once all the increases come into effect, the average single-family homeowner will pay $73 to $98 more annually.
