OKANAGAN — A thick blanket of smoke covers much of the Okanagan as a result of wildfires in the province.
There are no wildfires burning in the Okanagan at this time but the air quality index is climbing.
According to www.bcairquality.ca, the air quality index in the Okanagan is four (moderate) on a scale of 1-10.
Some of the smoke that has moved into the Okanagan is from a large wildfire burning in the Pemberton area where the air quality index is at a maximum.
In neighbouring Whistler, the air quality index is 10.
There’s also an air quality advisory for Metro Vancouver.
The air quality index for the Okanagan is expected to drop to three by Wednesday.
There are an estimated 180 wildfires burning in B.C.
