WATCH: Residents are worried after it was announced circulation on de la Gare boulevard in Vaudreuil will be slimmed down to one lane each way. Gloria Henriquez reports.
VAUDREUIL-DORION – Starting Tuesday, circulation on de la Gare boulevard in Vaudreuil will be slimmed down to one lane each way between Cité-Des-Jeunes boulevard and Édouard Lalonde street.
The goal: to open up an entrance to a new commercial complex.
Businesses in the area are already feeling the pinch.
“The city of Vaudreuil should think before handing out commercial permits,” said Monzer Katat who works at Kabab, a Lebanese restaurant.
“We need people to come first.”
Detours
City officials are suggesting drivers take Emile Bouchard avenue to ease traffic in the area.
That’s not convincing residents who insist the quiet street does not need more traffic.
“My son, Caleb, has special needs,” said Valerie Tetreault as she played with him at a nearby splash park.
“Imagine crossing that street with traffic.”
