Wildfire evacuees going to Saskatchewan Roughriders game

REGINA – Around 800 wildfire evacuees will be going to the Saskatchewan Roughriders game Sunday. The football organization has donated the tickets to people seeking refuge in Regina as 110 active wildfires burn in Saskatchewan.

Global News spoke to the Riders manager of media relations and football communications, Ryan Pollock, Sunday morning. He says despite smoke, at this point, the game at Mosaic Stadium is still on and changes would come from the Canadian Football League (CFL).

According to Environment Canada, the air quality health index was at a 7+ as of 11 a.m. Sunday. As of 1 p.m., it was downgraded to 3+ for low risk risk.

The riders play the Toronto Argonauts at 1:30 p.m.
