Vernon Employment and Assistance Office finds interim location after fire

VERNON – Clients of the Vernon Employment and Assistance Office have an alternate location to go to for help with pressing issues, two days after their office was destroyed in a fire.

The office deals with people who are receiving income assistance or disability payments. After Tuesday’s fire, needy clients were left wondering where they would go to pick up their cheques or have other time-sensitive issues dealt with.

The provincial ministry responsible says staff will temporarily be located at the Service B.C. Centre in Vernon at 3201 30th Street.

The ministry says clients with issues that are not pressing should call 1-866-866-0800.
