TORONTO — Canadian hockey player Tyler Seguin bares almost all in ESPN The Magazine’s latest Body Issue.

The 23-year-old from Brampton, Ont. is the only Canadian featured in this year’s collection of artistic nude photos of athletes.

Seguin has played two seasons for the Dallas Stars since being traded by the Boston Bruins. He was part of Canada’s gold-winning team at this year’s World Hockey Championships and played in the NHL All-Star Game in January.

In his ESPN photos, Seguin shows off his extensive body art. On his left arm are tattoos with the birth years of his parents Paul and Jackie and sisters Candace and Cassidy with a family tree, an angel and a heart. His right arm is decorated with the CN Tower and other reminders of the Toronto area.

On his left ribcage, Seguin has a tattoo that reads: “Stanley Cup Champions Boston Bruins 2011.”

Seguin spoke about his 6’1″, 200-pound body — and 3.6 per cent body fat.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“It’s not unhealthy,” he said. “I’m just naturally thin, I guess you could say.”

Seguin said he doesn’t have the physique of the typical hockey player (“I don’t have the biggest legs or butt”) but certain parts of his body are big.

“I’ve always had massive feet and big hands,” he said. “I have really long toes, and my second toe is oddly long.”

Seguin also feels like his ears are big. “I never noticed it until I was 16 and I shaved my head,” he recalled. “Ever since then I’ve tried to keep hair on my head so I don’t have to look at those things.”

He also complained about having “too many clicking joints” for a guy his age but not a lot of chest hair (“Maybe that will come soon?”).

Seguin, who is reportedly spending the summer back home in Ontario, has never been shy about showing skin — there are dozens of shirtless photos of the centre online.

He’s also not the first Canadian hockey player to bare all in the pages of the Body Issue. PEI’s Brad Richards and Alberta’s Sheldon Souray and Joffrey Lupul have previously been featured.

Among the athletes in this year’s Body Issue are NBA stars Kevin Love and DeAndre Jordan, NFL player Odell Beckham Jr., women’s soccer star Ali Krieger, tennis champ Stan Wawrinka and Olympians Aly Raisman and Natalie Coughlin.

The Body Issue will be on newsstands on July 10.
