REGINA – Saskatchewan will have new wildlife regulations in place on Canada Day. New hunting regulations come into effect on July 1, 2015.
Under the changes, the most serious conservation offenses will carry an automatic two year suspension, while those convicted of wildlife offenses on three separate occasions will be given a lifetime hunting ban.
Other changes include prohibiting people with outstanding wildlife-related fines from buying a licence until their fines are paid and refusing to allow people to buy a Saskatchewan hunting licence if they are banned from hunting in other jurisdictions.

“Saskatchewan’s valuable wildlife resource needs to be protected and preserved for future generations to enjoy,” said Saskatchewan Environment Minister Herb Cox.
“This new legislation enhances wildlife protection and shows greater respect for our natural resources by increasing the severity of penalties for those who commit hunting violations.”
The changes will also ensure that science-based wildlife surveys are carried out in a responsible and undisruptive manner.
