WINNIPEG – A bigger lake and beach, improved walking paths, volleyball courts and a playground now greet visitors to Manitoba’s Birds Hill Provincial Park.
The popular camping and beach spot just outside Winnipeg will now get improvements to the campground, the west gate and water and waste-water systems over the next four years, Premier Greg Selinger announced Monday.

The improvements that have already been finished are:
- concrete barriers between the three existing beaches have been removed;
- walking paths from the east and west parking lots to the lake have been improved;
- trees, volleyball courts, a playground and new furniture have been added;
- water quality has been improved through work such as removing vegetation from the lake bottom; and
- 15,000 square metres have been added to the lake, increasing the swimming area 20 per cent.
