Winnipeg Transit workers accept new contract, avoid strike

WINNIPEG — Transit workers in Winnipeg accepted a new contract Friday afternoon.

Drivers and maintenance workers voted 59.8% in favour of accepting the new deal.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505 rejected a previous offer by 51% in May. A week later they returned to the bargaining table and hammered out a new contract.
