Members of the RCMP national security section arrested Driver June 4th at the Carlotta Crescent home, and applied to court for a peace bond over fears Driver “will participate in or contribute to, directly or indirectly, the activity of a terrorist group for the purpose of enhancing the ability of any terrorist group to facilitate or carry out a terrorist activity, pursuant to S.810.01 of the Criminal Code.”

Driver had made headlines earlier this year by voicing support for the ISIS terror group and approval of terrorist attacks in Canada. The Twitter posts were under the name Harun Abdurahman.

He was released on bail June 13th, under 25 strict conditions that included wearing a GPS monitoring device and staying off the internet. But he sparked outrage earlier this week when did a media interview over the phone and once again defended ISIS and the October 22 attack on Parliament by Michael Zehaf-Bibeau.

Selkirk-Interlake Conservative MP James Bezan said Driver should be charged with inciting terrorism for the comments.

But officials say Driver’s arrest Friday was based solely on the loss of his bail surety.

Driver needs to find a new place to live, Mahon said. “If the address and or surety is not re-entered over the weekend he will be in court Monday.”
