McDavid could make NHL debut when Oilers open on the road in St. Louis

Connor McDavid could make his NHL debut Oct. 8 in St. Louis as the Edmonton Oilers open next season at the Blues.

Assuming the prospective first pick is healthy, McDavid will play his first game at Rexall Place Oct. 15 against St. Louis.

The Maple Leafs and Canadiens face off in Toronto Oct. 7. It’s the seventh straight season the Leafs and Habs open against each other.

Montreal plays its first home game Oct. 15 against the New York Rangers.

The Ottawa Senators open in Buffalo Oct. 8 and host Montreal on Oct. 11 for their home opener.

The Winnipeg Jets start the season in Boston Oct. 8 and host the Calgary Flames in the first game back at MTS Centre Oct. 16.

Calgary hosts the Canucks Oct. 7. Vancouver’s home opener is Oct. 10 against the Flames.

The Stanley Cup-champion Chicago Blackhawks will raise their third banner in six years Oct. 7 against the Rangers and play the first NHL regular-season game at Barclays Center in Brooklyn Oct. 9 against the Islanders.

The full NHL schedule will be released Thursday morning.
