WATCH: Platoon Chief provides update into St. Boniface gas leak
WINNIPEG — Residents are back in their homes Tuesday night after a major gas leak in St. Boniface.
Fire crews were assembling on Des Meurons Street after a report a main gas line was severed at Edgewood Street and Des Meurons at about 12:45 p.m.
A fire chief on scene told Global News that 50 homes had been evacuated, and that the damage to the high-pressure gas line was caused by an excavation.
Crews were still busy working to repair the leak by 9 p.m. Manitoba Hydro tells Global News that residents are not and never were without power or gas service during the evacuation.
