The officer was on her way to work at the Valleyfield SQ detachment when she lost control of her vehicle on a curve along Highway 132 near Valleyfield, about 30 kilometres west of Montreal Island, and slid into the oncoming lane.
Her car collided head-on with a taxi carrying two people, both of whom suffered minor injuries, according to a spokesperson for the SQ.
The officer was not driving an SQ vehicle at the time.
The accident shut down part of Highway 132 for several hours as investigators worked to piece together what happened. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Beaulieu said police were still trying to determine if all her family members have been advised before they release the woman’s name.
