Petrin, 32, has opted for a jury trial this fall and was recently sentenced to four months of time served after being found guilty of uttering death threats to a staff member at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.
In 2012, Petrin was charged with Lorry Santos’ murder along with the conspiracy to commit murder. He allegedly has ties with an Alberta street gang known as the White Boy Posse.
