REGINA – A North Carolina man is facing charges after he tried to bring a gun through the North Portal Border Crossing.

On June 16th CBSA agents sent a commercial truck and trailer for further examination, and when officers reached the sleeping area of the cab they found an undeclared prohibited 9mm handgun concealed under a bed mattress.

46-year-old Ozzie Harold Green Jr. of North Carolina has been charged under the customs act with failing to report goods, making a false statement, and smuggling.
Green Jr. will make his next court appearance on July 22nd in Regina.

This is the 14th gun that CBSA agents have seized this year at the North Portal border crossing.
