Young man in hospital after early morning stabbing

WATCH ABOVE: An 18-year-old man is in hospital recovering from stab wounds to the abdomen after an early morning attack Sunday in Montreal.

MONTREAL – Police are investigating after an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at 3:15 a.m. at the corner of Ste-Catherine Street and du fort, in Montreal.

The victim was walking westbound on Ste-Catherine when the suspect came up from behind and attacked him with a sharp object.

The young man stumbled into a store asking for help and was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

While police do not fear for the victim’s life, they have not yet been able to question him, due to the seriousness of his injuries.

Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture told Global News that they believe the victim may have known his assailant.

Reports are surfacing that the victim was involved in a quarrel in a bar prior to the stabbing.
