Genalta Power develops 1 MW waste-fuel power project in western Alberta

CALGARY – Privately owned Genalta Power Inc. has reached a deal to generate electricity from waste gas being flared at a Husky Energy well (TSX:HSE) in western Alberta.

The Stolberg waste heat project is expected to generate one megawatt of power at the Husky-operated Stolberg dehydration and gas compression plant, west of Rocky Mountain House, Alta.

Genalta is a private company developing a range of alternative energy projects with a focus on the oil and gas industry.

Husky is a Calgary-based integrated oil and gas company with oilsands and heavy oil operations, a refining and gasoline station network, offshore East Coast energy production and a growing business in Southeast Asia.

Husky is one of Canada’s biggest oil companies and also has refinery operations in the United States. The company is two thirds owned by the family of Chinese billionaire Li-Ka-shing.
