12 year olds facing arson charges after string of Regina fires

REGINA – Two 12 year olds – a boy and a girl – are facing a number charges in connection with a series of fires in Regina last weekend.

On Saturday, June 13, police and fire crews responded to several fires within a two-hour time period.

The first was at a vacant home in the 1400 block of Garnet St. At around the same time, a fence was set on fire next to an occupied home in the 1400 block of Athol St. Shortly afterwards a pile of debris was set on fire next to the Provincial Territorial Building on Dewdney Ave.

All three fires were determined to be deliberately set.

A 12-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl have each been charged with two counts of Aarson Causing Damage to Property and one count of Arson with Disregard for Human Life. Due to their age, neither of the accused can be named.
