McArthurGlen outlet mall near YVR set to open doors on July 9

The much anticipated McArthurGlen outlet mall near Vancouver International Airport will be opening its doors on July 9.

A collaboration between YVR and European developer McArthurGlen Group, the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport will be B.C.’s first luxury outlet mall.

Construction began in January 2014, encompassing about 376,000 square feet of luxury, designer and lifestyle retail space on the northeast corner of Sea Island near the Templeton Canada Line station. It’s expected to create about 1,000 jobs.

Phase one of the project will feature 600 brands, with an additional 400 brands arriving later.

Forty-six retailers, including numerous dining options, have been announced, and noted brands such as Nike, Armani, Coach, J. Crew and Hugo Boss are some of the big brands being showcased. While luxury retailer such as Burberry, Prada and Michael Kors are commonly seen in McArthurGlen’s European outlet malls, they aren’t part of phase 1 for the mall.

The outlet mall is expected to feature two luxury piazzas, complete with pedestrian-friendly walkways and tree-lined streets. Architecture of the mall is said to be inspired by historic Vancouver buildings including the Sinclair Centre, the Rowing Club and the Gastown neighhourhood.

Earlier this April, the developers held a job fair to fill up the retail positions for the outlet.
