Speeding car plows into Saskatoon garage

SASKATOON – A car crashed into a garage Tuesday night in Saskatoon, narrowly missing a house. It happened just before 7:30 p.m. at a house on Hughes Drive.

Witnesses told police the car was travelling at a high rate of speed on 33rd Street West when the driver swerved to avoid a cyclist. The driver lost control and went over the front steps of the home before smashing into the attached garage.

When firefighters arrived, the two people in the car were lying on the lawn. They weren’t seriously hurt and were treated at the scene.

Fire crews had to stabilize the corner of the garage.

The driver has been charged with driving without due care and attention and exceeding the posted speed limit of 50 km/h.
