It’s part of the 69-year-old’s weekly routine: Dedication that’s earned him recognition at Tourism Calgary’s annual White Hat Awards.
White has been named 2015’s Volunteer of the Year.
His love of aviation goes back to his days growing up in England, where he signed up for air cadets, and later flew several aircraft while serving with the British military.
White went on to a career as a mechanic, retiring with his wife to the Calgary area about a decade ago.
He says he enjoys hosting young visitors to the Aerospace Museum.
“To be with the kids, to introduce them to aviation…it’s just so awesome to me.”
