The new building adds 360,000 square feet of space to the KGH site and will begin receiving patients May 27.

The building will house an emergency room four times the size of the current facility, an expanded psychiatric unit and operating rooms plus a rooftop heli-pad.

The expansion means several new jobs will be opening at the hospital, particularly
in the emergency room.

Once the Centennial Building is open, the 80-year-old Pandosy building at KGH will be torn down to make way for a new cardiac care facility.
