Five days later, police are refusing to identify the victim or the cause of his death.

Media spokesperson, Cpl. Dave Tyreman, says investigators are “keeping things pretty tight right now” but he doesn’t know why.

He says it may be to protect the integrity of the investigation or because the victim’s family doesn’t want the name released.

Tyreman also doesn’t know why there is a heavy police presence at a rural property on Carmi Avenue or whether it’s associated to the homicide investigation.

Neighbours tell Global Okanagan News officers have been at the house since Friday but many more arrived Tuesday.

It appears officers are conducting a grid search of a brush area near the house.

RCMP have also brought a large truck, perhaps a mobile command centre, to the site.
