Security breach at YVR under investigation

VANCOUVER – A security breach at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is under investigation after a number of passengers did not clear customs.

A spokesperson for YVR said “a number of passengers” onboard Air Canada Flight 030 from Beijing were misdirected into the domestic terminal on Sunday without clearing Canada customs.

The majority of the passengers were found and processed through customs, although not all of them. Three passengers have still not been processed.

Air Canada has not released the information on how many passengers went to the domestic terminal when the flight landed.

Air Canada has launched an internal investigation into the error. YVR is reviewing its internal procedures and continues to work with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Air Canada.
