KELOWNA — National Blood Donor week was marked on Monday by Kelowna city councillors who met a young blood recipient’s father and the councillors also thanked local donors. Councillor Luke Stack, who is pictured above, donated blood at the Blood Donor Clinic on Dilworth Drive. They also met Dan Maja, a local father whose 15-year-old daughter has received many blood transfusions to help in her battle with leukemia.
National Blood Donor Week runs from Monday to Sunday. Canadian Blood Services says it’s a time to celebrate the 420,000 Canadians who have donated blood to help patients in need of transfusions like Maja’s daughter.
