UPDATE: Sask. Mounties capture man who fled during vehicle stop

KYLE, Sask. – A search is underway in a remote and rugged area of Saskatchewan after a man fled a vehicle near Kyle. At around 4 p.m., officers were conducting a vehicle stop on Highway 4 when Aleksandr Levin, 48, ran into an area known locally as Matador Hills.

A plane from Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and a local helicopter assisted police in their search Friday evening but were unsuccessful.

RCMP say they are concerned for the man’s safety.

It’s believed that Levin may have reached Clearwater regional park.

He is described as Caucasian, six-feet, 200 pounds , with grey hair and brown eyes. Levin was last seen wearing light-coloured shorts and a plaid shirt.

Levin may speak with a foreign accent. He has a residence in Saskatoon.
