PENTICTON — A 10-month-old puppy in Penticton is lucky to be alive after being hit by a car, but Jodi, a black Labrador Retriever, is already beginning to bounce back.
She has a long road ahead of her, fracturing her femur in the accident.
“She had surgery to pin and wire the leg, but her prognosis for a full recovery is good,” says South Okanagan-Similkameen BC SPCA branch manager Corinne Ross.
Jodi needs follow-up care for the next two months before she’ll be available for adoption, with her total vet bill and care costs tallying an estimated $4,000.
As a non-profit, the SPCA relies on donations to help dogs like Jodi. It’s set up a fundraising page, hoping to community the will help the young pup.
“She’s such a sweet, friendly, happy girl. We just want her to have the chance to live a full and active life, once her leg has healed,” says Ross.
