Retired Calgary officer Stephen Huggett not guilty of sexual assault

CALGARY – A former Calgary police officer has been found not guilty of sexual assaulting a young girl in the 90s.

Stephen Huggett, 61, was charged with invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference with a child under 14 years.

His trial began on Tuesday.

On Friday, a judge acquitted Huggett on both charges.

Huggett was previously sentenced to nine months in jail after being convicted of possession of child pornography in 2009.

He spent 25 years with the Calgary Police Service before retiring in 2007.
