Young baseball fan’s triumph turns to anger as he catches grand slam ball hit by opposing team

A young Detroit Tigers fan was unbelievably excited after he made a major-league catch during the Tigers’ game against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

He stood triumphant in the front row of the stadium, his glove held high for the entire crowd to applaud his talent.

But, as it tends to do, reality hit hard; the grand slam was hit by an Athletics’ player – and his favourite team was now losing.

The young Tigers’ fan’s triumphant posture quickly slumped as he began to wail and push away people trying to console him.

The stadium camera turned away as buried his head in his hands, stunned at the realization he was implicit in the grand slam which eventually sunk his team.

The Tigers’ lost by two runs, those scored on the grand slam. The final score of the game was 5-3.
