No smoke detectors in Haysboro house that caught fire

CALGARY – The Calgary Fire Department is investigating what sparked a fire in the community of Haysboro on Wednesday.

Crews were called to a house in the 100 block of Havenhurst Crescent S.W. just after 2 a.m.

The fire was by observed by a resident who spotted smoke when they were returning home.

Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the room where it started, and extinguish it quickly.

Three people in the home at the time were able to get out safely.

Firefighters say there were no working smoke detectors in the house at the time.

Enough damage was done to the home that residents won’t be able to return until repairs have been made.
