Rock climber seriously hurt after fall near Squamish

A rock climber in his forties is recovering from serious injuries after a fall near Squamish.

Two helicopters and about 20 volunteers with Squamish search and rescue were called on Sunday after the man had fallen several meters.

The rescue resulted in an hour and a half long shut down of the Sea to Sky highway between Squamish and Whistler.

That made room for the first helicopter to transfer the patient to a waiting air ambulance.

The man is now recovering in hospital.
