Saskatoon Valkyries defeated on home turf by Regina Riot

SASKATOON – It appears the Saskatoon Valkyries will have some competition this year in the Western Women’s Canadian Football League (WWCFL). Their provincial rival, the Regina Riot, handed them their second loss in franchise history this weekend.

The teams butted heads Saturday evening at SMF Field in Saskatoon.

In the end, the Riot were victorious 49-9 and are still the only team to have ever beaten the Valkyries on the gridiron.

Saskatoon has been league champion for the past four years.

This is the second time the squads have met this WWCFL season, with Saskatoon coming out on top 28-19 on May 17 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

The Valkyries play the Manitoba Fearless next on June 7.
