EDMONTON — A house in south Edmonton was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning.
A neighbour called 911 and crews arrived at 4:36 a.m. to a fully-involved fire.

“At 4:30 this morning someone came banging on our door telling us that the house was on fire next door,” said neighbour Brenda Cannon. “We ran outside and it was fully engulfed.
“Pretty scary and shocking.”
There were at least four people living in the home – near 37 Avenue and 28 A Street – but no injuries have been reported.
Another home next to the fire was evacuated, but only the original house was seriously damaged.

“The initial arriving crews found the front of the house fully-involved in flame,” said Cpt. Brad Tilley. “They proceeded to start covering the exposure so it wouldn’t extend to other houses and put out the flame.”
“There’s minimal damage – other than superficial – to the other properties.”
Thirty-two firefighters – making up eight units – battled the blaze. The fire was declared out at 6:56 a.m.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
A damage estimate has not been determined.
“From what I’ve seen so far, I’d say it’s significant,” said Tilley. “I don’t have a dollar value on it. It would probably be deemed as a major repair/total loss at this point, but that will be up to insurance companies to determine.”
