Winnipeg rapid transit plan’s 2nd phase to be unveiled Thursday

WINNIPEG – The public will get a look at details of the second phase of Winnipeg’s Southwest Transitway at Canad Inns Fort Garry at an open house Thursday.

The “functional design” of the transitway – details including active transporation paths and the widening of Pembina Highway under the Jubilee Underpass — will be on display from 3:30-9 p.m. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions.

The nearly $600-million second phase of the transitway will run from the Jubilee Underpass to the University of Manitoba. The first phase ran from downtown to Jubilee.

The open house will include discussion about station locations, routes and construction timeframes.
