Father charged with unsafe storage of firearm

The father of a boy shot and killed by his older brother on a Manitoba First Nation is now facing gun related charges.

The shooting happened in a house on Sagkeeng First Nation in early November. 

Police say a 14-year-old boy somehow got a hold of a rifle, the weapon went off, killing his 9-year-old brother. 

Family members identified the victim as Dylan Courchene. 

Courchene’s 34-year-old father has been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm.
