Charges to be laid against SQ officer involved in fatal crash

WATCH: The Crown Prosecutor announced Tuesday that it would be charging Patrick Ouellet with dangerous driving. The SQ officer was a involved in an undercover police operation on February 13, 2014, when he crashed into another car, killing a five-year-old boy.

MONTREAL – The Crown Prosecutor’s Office (DPCP) announced Tuesday that Patrick Ouellet, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officer involved in fatal car crashed that killed a five-year-old boy in St-Hubert last year will be charged with dangerous driving.

The move follows an investigation launched by an independent prosecutor last November.

The Crown Prosecutor’s Office had initially closed the case without pressing charges.

That decision was met with public outcry and the file was reopened a few days later with the DPCP stating the case warranted further investigation.
