The daycare is open to all children, with almost 20 per cent of the spots reserved for children with developmental delays.

Kathleen Weil, Minister of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusiveness was on hand to deliver a donation and speak to the crowd.

The money raised will be used to fund a new sensory garden at the daycare dubbed Arthur’s Garden.

The project will include a music garden where children can play outdoor musical instruments, an edible garden and greenhouse to allow children to interact in a hands-on way with the natural world and a sensory playground to help children develop tolerances to different types of sensory stimulation.

The garden will also include a variety of nooks, to provide children with a safe place to retreat to if they are feeling overwhelmed or just need to regroup.

The landscaping of the garden is focused on sensory stimulation, cognitive development, communication skills, and fine and gross motor skills.

To learn more about the project or to donate, you can visit the  Arthur’s Garden website here.
