Zoe Kazan heading to Ottawa to star in ‘There Are Monsters’

TORONTO — Zoe Kazan is coming back to Canada this summer to make another movie.

The 31-year-old actress is starring in the independent horror film There Are Monsters, which is shooting in Ottawa beginning in July.

Kazan made the romantic comedy The F Word (titled What If in the U.S.) in Toronto in the summer of 2012 opposite Daniel Radcliffe.

Her credits include 2007’s In the Valley of Elah and the TV series Olive Kitteridge.

There Are Monsters is about a mother (Kazan) and her young daughter who are tormented by an evil creature.

The movie was written and will be directed by Bryan Bertino, who made the 2008 thriller The Strangers starring Canadian actor Scott Speedman.

There Are Monsters is not to be confused with the Canadian horror film of the same name directed by Jay Dahl.

The national capital region has hosted production of a number of horror films and thrillers, including last year’s Clown starring Peter Stormare and 2012’s House at the End of the Street starring Jennifer Lawrence.

Oz Perkins, son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins, recently wrapped filming of February in and around Ottawa. The horror flick stars Emma Roberts, Lauren Holly and James Remar.
