WATCH: Phillies fan wrenches home run ball away from 63-year-old woman

TORONTO – An unidentified Philadelphia Phillies fan has become the talk of the North American sports world after cameras caught him wrenching a home run ball away from a 63-year-old woman at Sunday’s game.

It happened during the bottom of the eighth inning of the Phillies/Arizona Diamondbacks game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, when Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco blasted his first career home run deep over the centre field wall.

During the replay, cameras captured 63-year-old Joyce Kiner leaning over the railing to snag the ball – before an unknown Phillies fan literally rips the ball out of her hands.

“I can’t believe [he] did that,” Kiner told KYW News in Philadelphia. “You dog! I was just like, ‘really?’ I was thinking to myself, ‘really?’ Nothing, he kept his back to me and walked away.”

Kiner says she was there with her husband celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary. He had just gotten up to grab some drinks and gave his glove to his wife in case anything happened.

“If only my husband was here, this would never have happened,” Kiner said. “He would have had it because he is 6’5”.”

The video has become the talk of the sports world since it was posted online, with many expressing their anger on social media.

Meanwhile, the Phillies organization has reached out to Kiner to apologize for the unfortunate incident.

For her part, Kiner said she would accept an apology from the man in question – but only to a certain point.

“You can’t fix stupid.”
